Quick Start
After installing TransFlex, follow these simple steps to perform your first translation.
1. Add your API Key
Section titled “1. Add your API Key”Since TransFlex is a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) client, it needs access to an LLM provider to work.
- Open TransFlex.
- Open Settings.
- Navigate to the Providers tab.
- Enter your API Key for your preferred provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini) and hit Save.
Note: Keys are stored securely in your OS native keychain.
2. Prepare a text to translate
Section titled “2. Prepare a text to translate”Highlight any piece of text in your browser, code editor, or word processor. Press Cmd/Ctrl + C to copy it to your clipboard.
3. Summon TransFlex
Section titled “3. Summon TransFlex”Press the global shortcut:
- Windows/Linux:
Alt+T - macOS:
Cmd+Alt+T
The TransFlex window will instantly appear on top of your current application.
4. Translate!
Section titled “4. Translate!”Your copied text will likely already be in your clipboard. Just paste it inside the input box and press Enter (or Cmd/Ctrl + Enter). Watch the translation stream live!
5. Quick Copy
Section titled “5. Quick Copy”Once the translation finishes, hover over the message and click the Copy button to grab the result instantly. Or, if Auto-copy is enabled in Settings, it’s already on your clipboard!
